Discovered via Kottke, movie bar codes are a visual representation of the colour scheme of an entire movie. Each vertical slice represents the colours used in any given frame, with the horizontal component representing the duration of the film. A wonderful demonstration of the concept is the film Hero, with its vibrant, shifting colour schemes beautifully captured in this simple 2D image.
